“For everyone who calls on the name of the
Lord will be saved.”
Romans 10:13 HCSB

He was a natural talent who never had a singing lesson. Yet Ira Sankey, born on this day in 1840, was blessed with a booming voice that first attracted attention while just a teenager, singing in his church choir. After joining the US army, he often was asked to lead singing for their services.

He had no intention of a career in music. Then, in 1870, he attended the services of evangelist D. L. Moody. The quality of singing at those services was poor, but everything changed when Sankey was asked to lead. This began a partnership with Moody that lasted for thirty years.

Infused with a passion for the Gospel, Sankey realized the power of music. He constantly was sensitive to find music that could “guide the inquiring souls to Jesus Christ.” He brought countless songs to light through his publishing and composing efforts.

One discovery was a poem inspired by the cries of a young girl in Scotland. He read how she had become “anxious about her spiritual condition.” Her pastor urged her to “read your Bible.” But the girl couldn’t read. She did the only thing she could, crying out, “Lord Jesus, take me as I am!” And her life changed.

Sankey set these words to music, and it became the hymn “Take Me As I Am.” This hymn has touched many lives, like the girl, who felt “helpless” and “full of guilt.” Who have realized that Jesus can set us free. Just “as I am.”

The amazing thing is that Jesus loves us, just as we are. No matter who we are or what we have done, He is ready to forgive us, cleanse us, and give us eternal life. Make sure you have experienced this freedom in your life. And commit yourself to reach others with this amazing love.

Today's Inspiring Prayer

Father, thank You for loving me. Cleanse me from every sin. Help me to serve You. Give me a passion for Souls. Use me to impact lives with the Gospel. In Jesus’ name. Amen. God bless you

Incomprehensible Wisdom Of God

During World War 2, a soldier was separated from his unit on an island. The fighting had been intense, and in the smoke and the crossfire he had lost touch with his comrades. Alone in the jungle, he could hear enemy soldiers coming in his direction. Scrambling for cover, he found his way up a high ridge to several small caves in the rock. Quickly he crawled inside one of the caves. Although safe for the moment, he realised that once the enemy soldiers looking for him swept up the ridge, they would quickly search all the caves and he would be killed. As he waited, he prayed, "Lord, please spare my life. Whatever will happen, I love you and trust you. Amen." After praying, he lay quietly listening to the enemy begin to draw close. He thought, "Well, I guess the Lord isn't going to help me out of this one." Then he saw a spider begin to build a web over the front of his cave. "Hah" he thought, "What I need is a brick wall and...

READERS ARE LEADERS!!! READ TO BE A LEADER : A very poor newly wedded, young couple lived in a small farm. One day the husband made the following proposal to his wife: Honey, I will leave the house: I will travel faraway, get a job and work hard in order to come back and give you the comfortable life that you deserve. I do not know how long I will stay away, I only ask one thing, please wait for me, and while I am away, you should be faithful to me, because I will be faithful to you. His wife agreed, so the young man left. He walked many days until he found a farmer who was in need of someone to help him. The young man offered his services. He was accepted. Therefore he discussed the terms with his boss: Let me work for as long as I want and when I think I should go home, please relieve me of my duties. I do not want to receive my salary. I ask you to save it for me, until the day I leave. The day I decide to go, please give me the money and I wil...
